Either way....it's just because Tadashi's really, really loyal. He likes people and he talks to people a lot but he still kinda keeps to himself. Back home he had a small group of friends and I didn't even meet them until really recently. He'll talk to people but he has to see that people are going to really stick around and support him before he trusts people. [He's quiet again, wondering if maybe he's saying too much.]
...he's such an idiot. He never really talks about his own problems and he gives way more of himself to people than he ever should have and he's always way too willing to just help instead of thinking that maybe, just maybe it's fine to ask for help and accept help when it comes to personal stuff, too. [Gee, Hiro, who does that sound like to you? Projecting-much?] He just...[A pause. He swallows thickly, slowing down on his eating and settles for staring at the funnel cake instead.] When I first got here, I ended up screaming in his face that he wasn't real because I didn't know what was happening. And later he told me that he was here no matter how much he didn't want to be.
[All the more reasons Hiro's pushing so hard to figure this out.] I don't want to pretend I understand what he was thinking when he first woke up here, but being around and helping people and building friendships is something he needed. You let him help and you told him things about your world and were part of what allowed him to start living a life here again. That's...gotta be a huge part of it.
