[It's a pretty well-executed plan, all things considered. They make a good team and it's easy to follow the path and keep the large monsters in line with snow and ice. The exit from the carnival grounds toward the opening in the wall is near but Ami speaks and interrupts his train of thought. He looks down, seeing who she means and nodding.]
On it! [He turns sharply, directing Baymax to swoop in and scoop up the bystanders out of the way. Some were set on rooftops of nearby stands and some were just dropped gently in bushes out of the way. He's quick to work before Hiro reguides him back on their track.] How's that?
You're both doing great. How is Baymax? We're almost there! [She said as she stopped two more elephants from heading for the residential district with a well timed Mercury Aqua Rhapsody. The ice crept up on them and nipped at their feet, making them heed the path they wanted.
Mercury would have to check on the civilians later but for now, she would keep her eye on Hiro. The wall kept getting closer and closer into view.]
Hiro, once they're outside the gates, take s sharp rise into the air with Baymax, I'll use an attack behind them and once they're cleared, I need you to blast the ice.
Uh huh. I'm sure we can. [Even with the fact he almost found himself with a face-full of tree, he's not into the idea of giving her that satisfaction. Probably because he's stubborn, partially because he genuinely feels he knows way more about how this place works than some goddess might. It's the trouble with being a slightly arrogant teenager.]
...what the heck is a dodo? [He pauses, giving her another perplexed look.] Are you actually listening to yourself? What makes you think that was entirely humanity's fault?
...I feel like you kinda forgot to tell me those specifics, man. [IT SURE DOES MAKE SENSE NOW.] Instead of us coming to their planet, they came to yours. Were their tactics similar to CERES?
[Once she's down he lets go of her hand and makes sure she's steady before gesturing for her and Baymax to follow him.] Just...don't tell Ruby I'm trying too hard, okay? That might be a little embarrassing to deal with. [At least he's honest.]
Maybe even less than. [He seems pretty confident about that and he gives the stall another look, waving a hand in a way meant to reassure her.] Baymax and I can take these guys. Just watch...and maybe get ready to book.
[This is a bad plan, but it's a plan enough. He and Baymax turn, casually approaching the stall and disappearing inside...
...have fun waiting for a bit, Mitsuru. There might be something wrong though seeing how the five minute mark soon passes and there's no sign of them just yet.]
[Probably not, but Hiro does a lot of things Hiro shouldn't do.]
You consider this meddling? What kind of world are you from where people bothering to talk to you or helping you is meddling? [The pot asked the kettle.] If anything Baymax probably just thought you could get the job done faster than finding my brother, it's kind of his job to make sure things get done.
[He lifts his eyebrows when Heero mentions that cheating's allowed, vaguely wondering what the other teenager has in mind. He tries to wiggle his way around on the display, frowning lightly.] Pretty sure there's a hook stuck in the back of my armor that's keeping me here. And they took my helmet and hid it behind the counter somewhere, too after they realized I was talking to Baymax. [He eyes the baseballs before he attempts a nod. Not that he can move very far, but still.]
Four inside the game, two on the outside. That should be a good sized group and it also gives us people that can alert us if something really bad's happening in the colony that we need to bail and help out anyway. Now it's just a matter of finding four more people we want to ask to help.
[There's a loud roar from the beast as the blades sink into its eyes, causing it to stumble and stop now that it's blinded. The blades come back to him, locking into the gunblade before turning forward to watch where Baymax is finding. He finds Phoenix's reactions amusing and it isn't for another couple of minutes before Baymax descends in the middle of the carnival, gently hitting the ground and landing. He turns to look at Phoenix, still smirking despite himself.]
Dude that's stupid, that thing moves way too slow for Ruby. [And he's pushing Tadashi's arm away before he realizes the implications of that, eyes widening as he moves to smack at his arms instead.] And Ruby and I would never go on that! That's, like...[He flails his hands. He doesn't have an argument but that's not cool bro!]
[He's watching all right, and he sees what that vendor's doing.]
Dude come on, he's just a kid! [The vendor's not impressed with Hiro's response though and soon a baseball's thrown and hits him in the chest.] Ow, hey! [He looks back at Takeru again.] Throw it harder this time!
Either way....it's just because Tadashi's really, really loyal. He likes people and he talks to people a lot but he still kinda keeps to himself. Back home he had a small group of friends and I didn't even meet them until really recently. He'll talk to people but he has to see that people are going to really stick around and support him before he trusts people. [He's quiet again, wondering if maybe he's saying too much.]
...he's such an idiot. He never really talks about his own problems and he gives way more of himself to people than he ever should have and he's always way too willing to just help instead of thinking that maybe, just maybe it's fine to ask for help and accept help when it comes to personal stuff, too. [Gee, Hiro, who does that sound like to you? Projecting-much?] He just...[A pause. He swallows thickly, slowing down on his eating and settles for staring at the funnel cake instead.] When I first got here, I ended up screaming in his face that he wasn't real because I didn't know what was happening. And later he told me that he was here no matter how much he didn't want to be.
[All the more reasons Hiro's pushing so hard to figure this out.] I don't want to pretend I understand what he was thinking when he first woke up here, but being around and helping people and building friendships is something he needed. You let him help and you told him things about your world and were part of what allowed him to start living a life here again. That's...gotta be a huge part of it.
[Baymax gives Mars a thumbs up before he moves to the other side of the creature, positioning himself to push on it. Hiro swings the gate of the newly-fixed pen wide open to help them guide it into the area. With their combined efforts it moves slowly but surely into the pen and once it's settled Hiro waits for his friends to get out and swings the door shut, tying it off with some rope he found.]
You ever think we're going to get a day where we won't have to be on hero duty? [He's teasing, but seriously.] You guys did great.
[So much sass and so much hair. Hiro can't help but laugh under his breath at the vendor's bewildered expression before he watching the baseballs zoom across the stand into the milk bottles. Several of them are knocked over, but some remain standing. Some are even pushed back into position by the help of a few friendly, subtle tentacles.]
Don't give him a chance to reset the stack, just keep throwing them like that! [And the poor, poor vendor is having a hell of a time keeping up with Rapunzel's actual score.]
I don't know if I'd say it was losing so much as they cheated. [He doesn't like losing. If he's surprised to hear Inaba has a boyfriend, he doesn't say so.] Think you'd be willing to try anyway?
[Please don't piss off the vendor, Usagi. He peers at her for a moment, almost debating not giving her the prize at all before he unhooks Hiro and drops him to the ground.]
"Don't come back." [And that's it. He's shooing the pair off and Hiro looks up at her with a slightly annoyed look on his face.] C'mon, let's get out of here.
[And under his breath:] Yeah, you weren't the only one. [Because seriously, Ruby. He didn't really look away fast enough. BUT LET'S NOT MAKE THIS AWKWARD AND CONTINUE TO IGNORE ALL EMOTIONS AND HORMONES. Hero-duty time.] Don't worry about it. I've got a good plan and we'll just have to move really fast.
[…worst case scenario her cloak would be returned after the carnival and she'd be wearing his hoodie for a while.] What's so important about that thing anyway?
A new approach isn't a bad idea… [He sure is doomed. Though the fact that the second miss looks a little skewed doesn't escape him and he glares at the vendor who's giving him a very smug look. Jaune gets his attention though and he looks down at him again.]
…kinda like what they're trying to tell us happened to our worlds, too? Because of the Flamines or whatever. [There's only a few ways the world can be destroyed and blowing it up sounds on point.] A complete reset. Why? What was the purpose of recreating the whole thing? ["And why you" goes unsaid, but he wants to know that, too.]
[...his character, jfc. His CHARGER, self. One question at a time, Adelina.] I wouldn't say it was too dangerous if you knew what parts of town to avoid late at night. People are really, really different, especially when money and revenge are involved. But if you were in some of the better parts of the city or you were inside after a certain hour it wasn't that bad at all. The part of town Tadashi and I live in is actually totally safe.
[There's a long story here that involves Hiro and botfighting and almost getting his ass kicked by guys that may or may not be part of the Yakuza, but still. Baymax is easier to talk about.] As for the chip? You know how I told you about how Tadashi programmed his dragon? We've done the same thing for Baymax. [This is embarrassing, but:] Think you could find me a crate really fast?
[That's an idea he hadn't considered and he and Baymax face each other before Hiro attempts to shrug.] I mean...why not? They just said no robots and Tailmon's definitely not a robot. [A Digimon, sure, but there's a major difference.] Only if she's up for the challenge.
[Those gloves are pretty big. And can cats throw? It's a mystery for the ages.]
[It's almost easy for him to be a little limp when he falls into her arms and he plays up that role well until the trio make a quick escape, even if there's a small smirk on his face. It's only when they're far enough away that he straightens up and gives her a look of gratitude that's quickly melting into sheepishness.]
Let's just say I've had some practice scamming people. [He scratches the back of his neck.] It's a pretty long story. I wanted to see what the games were like and the vendor freaked out when he thought I'd actually win a prize. Guess the logic was that instead of losing a prize he'd just gain one and double his profits. It's almost a good business strategy if it wasn't like kidnapping.
[Wow he's talking a lot.] ...thanks for coming to get me. Not everybody would trust Baymax's word on stuff. [Which why not??? His robot's awesome, tyvm.]
