[HERO DUTY TIME not hormones time even though that will certainly also be a thing In Time. For now, it's easier for them to ignore it and ignore it she shall.]
My cloak?
[Time for a story of deep reasoning, backstory and true importance. Mementos and people long gone and--]
I just like it.
[Oh.
Just kidding. Yeah she just likes it.]
I could probably find another one, but that one's been with me from the start, you know?
[And when that time comes they're both going to promptly freak out. It's fine.
He wasn't expecting a long deep story but the simplicity is enough to make him laugh.]
It's in pretty good shape for being that old. [Don't insult the hood, Hiro. He reaches forward, tugging the hood of his sweater forward to cover her eyes further.] This one hasn't been with me since the beginning of time or whatever but it's definitely bailed me out of trouble more than once. I'd fight aliens pretty hard to get it back. [He understands, Ruby.] If this plan doesn't work, we'll just have to steal something of theirs and hold it hostage.
She's wearing Hiro's hoodie??? Somehow it didn't connect because Baymax was the one who brought it but now it's clicking that she's seen him wearing it before and that's really embarrassing somehow (but also really warming, and she can feel her face heat up a little bit, at which point she's very glad that that hood is covering her face, becaus she's just going to duck her head further).
She sticks her hands in the pocket, hunching her shoulders a little bit in embarrassment (but also, in a way, keeping the hoodie a little closer, because... this is nice, too.)
[…that's definitely a smirk. He's very pleased with himself, almost cat-like with the way he's watching her and how smug he feels. (He'll puzzle out why he feels so proud later, all he knows is that he does.)]
Yeah. I programmed him to let himself into the tech shop when I'm not around. Figured it'd be kinda useful. […] I know it's not the same as your cloak, but it sorta suits you, too.
...you can keep it for a while if we can't find your cloak. I mean if you want to. [Eh. Why not. They're right in front of the original tent now and he gestures for Ruby and Baymax to lay low for a bit.]
See that? [He's pointing at one of the clowns.] If we can distract them and knock over the whole tent, Baymax can scan the area and find your stuff if it's in there. Think we can do it?
I was just thinking, if we can make the tent land on some of those boarbatusk-ish monsters, we can kill two birds with one stone! We'll distract everyone and we'll get some of those monsters too.
Huh. Not a bad idea. [He eyes the tent, nodding as he watches another person's pushed out through the flaps and onto the stage.] Think you can move fast enough to round them up when Baymax and I strike?
--yeah, I know. [Ruby please. But he nods, eyes narrowed as he fixates on the tent and it's only then he drops Ruby's hand. Just because they have to move, that's all.] On my count okay? Three...two...go! [And off he and Baymax go straight into the tent to wrangle some clowns and dressing assistants. Come along, Ruby, let's stop this crazy train.]
[Time to go, time to capture giant elephants and also get her cloak back.
Which is why she's poofing off in a flutter of rose petals as soon as he says go--she'll be herding as many elephants as she can into the general vicinity of where she thinks he'll be dumping that tent, just as planned.
[And while Ruby's zooming off and herding the elephants Baymax is punching out clowns. That's fine. They're not human so he doesn't feel quite so bad, and Hiro's darting around hunting for Ruby's cloak. With the clowns taken care of Baymax soars with the tent, dropping it on the elephants and allowing them to get themselves tangled up.
Of course these leaves Hiro with one end of Ruby's cloak in his hands and a clown holding onto the other. There's an intense game of tug-of-war going on here.]
Come on! Give it back! [The nice thing is that Hiro isn't strong enough to rip it. Let's just focus on the elephants and the rest of the calamity that is the alien circus.]
[Thank god Hiro isn't strong enough to rip that cloak, that would be the saddest end.
Instead, there's just Ruby rounding up elephants, using the remainder of the ropes and stakes that had been holding the tent up to wrap up the elephant creatures more tightly.
And then she dusts off her hands.]
There!
Baymax, nice job! High five! [Or, at least, she's going to try.]
[With the clowns out of the way Baymax is back to making sure Ruby's okay. There's also the most gently high-five ever because honestly if he high-fived her Ruby would probably go flying.
While this is going on though Hiro's finally frustrated enough with the clown that he lets go of Ruby's cape to send kick straight to the clown's face, knocking him out and onto the ground.
Honestly, he's pretty surprised that worked and he pokes the clown with his foot to make sure he's out cold before wrestling Ruby's cloak out from his hands. It's pretty wrinkled and dirty, but he tentatively holds it up.]
[It's shocking to him, too, trust him. He's not anticipating the hug and there's a soft "oomph" when she wraps her arms around him, but this time he's at least capable of reciprocating. He's eyeing the cloak carefully though.]
Of course it worked! [He sounds far too confident about that. But no he'd been worried it wouldn't, too.] Buuut I don't know how long these guys are knocked out. At least the elephants are taken care of. [He barely pulls away.] You probably wanna put this back on, huh?
[Look, they're both used to plans going haywire, so this was... just a thing that happened. She accepts the cloak, though she hesitates a bit on taking off the hoodie.
Maybe she can just wear both?
Yeah, she's going to do that.
Which is why after that brief moment of hesitation, she just sweeps her cloak back on on top, grinning at him.]
There! That's much better. Thanks for helping, Hiro.
[Small heroes in training: a love story. He doesn't think anything of it even if there's that overly pleased smile reappearing the moment Ruby sweeps her cloak over his hoodie. He's never going to see that again, is he? That's okay, he thinks. They can share.]
Hey, no problem. [There's a shrug and he's moving again to take her hand, gently tugging to get them to start moving.] Let's not stick around the scene of the crime. I've run from security enough today. How do you feel about cupcakes?
[He's definitely never going to see it again, except for rare occasions and/or when she's wearing it herself. Thanks, Hiro.]
I like cupcakes. Can we get the fancy ones? The ones with way too much frosting so it almost makes you feel like you're going to be sick but they're really cool looking?
[RUBY HAS HER PRIORITIES STRAIGHT... even as they start to wander out of the carnival grounds so nonchalantly after causing so much destruction.]
There's a stand that sells these huge ones with frosting that looks like a bunch of galaxies and planets. They're probably gonna make us puke. [Shrug. So that's a yes and they're on the same page as always.] I'll buy. Let's see if we can snag some for Yang, Naoki and Tadashi, too.
[And just like that all is right in the universe. Ruby has her cloak back, Hiro gets to spend a few hours with her, and there's cupcakes. Good day, Cerealia.]

[Shut up, motormouth Ruby.
AHEM.]
Right--got it. I've got an idea.
[At least there's that, she's less of an embarrassment like this.]
no subject
Wait, is yours different than my idea? What's your idea?
no subject
Nope, same idea, just building off of your idea.
[Teamwork.]
