Right anyway. I need to feed a magic cure to a giant magic god bird and I am pretty sure I have a method for doing it. A really gross one.

But I was figuring it couldn't hurt to have some kind of backup.

I can appreciate being useful at least. [He listens to the request, suddenly stopping his work and picking up his locket to just stare.]

Feed a magic cure. To a giant magic god bird. [And then, tentatively:] Don't tell me this is the magic bird I think it is. Tell me more about the cure though, I can probably figure something out.

It's the giant god bird you're thinking of, yeah.

Well, right now it's a dead body full of blood and magic cure and some other junk. [Which she was not dwelling on.] Which I need to get him to eat.

You need to get the Roc to eat a dead body? [Gross, what the hell! He looks pretty perturbed by the idea but he's already picking up his locket to start walking to--you guessed it--the library.] What about if you just drain the blood and magic cure and feed it to the Roc that way?

He's gotta eat the body too. Don't ask me why, I think it's all gross. But that's what the healers said. Human blood, human body, kitsune heart, cure.

All stuck together. It's really awful.

...you know what a kitsune is, don't you? [It's a casual-sounding question but he's suddenly very curious here.] Anyway there's a couple of ways we could do this, but how're you gonna get the Roc to settle down enough to eat?

I know now. And I really don't want to talk about it.

I have to leave the body at some sky shrine and then he's supposed to come eat it.

...sorry. Don't worry about that. [The video shows Hiro entering the library and the view suddenly reflects the spines of several books as Hiro sets to work. He has a specific idea but with the scarce resources in Caer Scima's library it's harder to track down what he really wants.]

So where's the shrine? Can we talk about that part?

[She actually smiled gratefully at that subject dismissal.]

It's in Nimh Gleanne, up on top of a mountain. We're supposed to take the cure meat blood pile up there and then leave and in theory he'll come down and eat it.

[It's the 'in theory' part she doesn't like.]

[He's got your back, buddy, no worries.] You might wanna pick up some new gloves then if you're going mobile with the guts pile. [There's a book being pulled, but it's not his original idea. It's a book of trails in the Drabwurld this time.]

Birds are attracted to food by sight. The most guaranteed way to get him to eat it is to lure him toward the mountain and make it look as appetizing as possible which...is probably hard with something like that. [He hums under his breath.] When we used to have to feed Mochi--our cat--medicine we'd hide it inside treats. And if that didn't work we'd just tackle him and one of us would pry his mouth open and shove the medicine down his throat. I'm pretty sure that's not an option for the Roc but hiding it might not be a bad idea...think magic god birds eat the same thing as normal birds? I mean what do you feed your chocobos? [It's mostly a rhetorical question since he built the birds a feeder, but he's also checking to make sure he's not missing anything.]

Lure him up the mountain. I think I like him ignoring me, not chasing me.

[She hesitates before her next answer.]

I don't know. Maybe if it were a bigger version of what birds ate? Do they eat the same stuff as chocobos?

[She knew her birds were kind of weird.]

He wouldn't be chasing you for long once he saw the food, Lumina. You're just the bait not the main meal. [All of this is said in a tone that clearly says "duh."]

Most birds eat seeds and sometimes little plants or fruit. They also eat worms though. [Which...is kind of like eating guts? Maybe?] We could probably figure out a good way to cover what it actually needs to eat. Do you even know where the Roc's currently at?

Yooooou could say I have an inkling.

[She turns the locket around, revealing the rock flying around far up in the sky. Now that the locket is turned towards him, a screech of pain can be heard.]

....yeeeeeeah he's just going to pick up his locket and stare at her.]

And you were worried about him chasing you? Have you been standing under him the whole time? [He's squinting to try and get a better look at the Roc though.] Okay. Next question. How much time do you have before the materials go bad, do you know?

No, I've just been coming by every few hours to check and make sure he hasn't died or anything. That would make this much harder to pull off!

Clarke's keeping them at the station for me, they'll be good for a few days at least.

[From this distance, it's hard to tell anything about the Roc, sadly.]

That means we have enough time to set up a trap at least. I still think you've just gotta make it as appealing as possible. Birds nest, don't they? Maybe you just need to build a nest for it with the food in it or something.

[Unfortunately, while Hiro knows and understands biology he doesn't know a whole lot about birds.] How often does he land? ["Has he landed yet?"]

...I haven't seen him land. [She frowns because that was weird, right?] Maybe he's worried whatever attacked him will attack again if he lands.

[And then a pause, and she smirks.]

So you think that if we build a nest, he'll be more likely to show up? I mean, I thought he was...smarter than that?

I'd be worried about that, too, if I were him. [A pause...and then he shrugs.] He might be smart but a bird brain is still a bird brain. Especially if he thought the nest would protect him from whatever attacked him the first time.

Okay, so some kind of nest at the shrine. I think I can wing that.

Buuuuut, see, I still think we need some kind of backup plan. In case he ignores the food completely for whatever reason.

[She taps her finger against her chin.]

Maybe like a really really big needle or something.

You mean like a tranquilizer to bring him down? [That's not a bad idea.] Where're you going to find a huge needle though on short notice? I mean we could maybe make something. Maybe Clarke has an idea of what sort of potion or treatment we can use to make him drowsy.
