[The cat's a big fat attention whore, but Hiro nods along with what Roxas says anyway. Okay. Sure. He can deal with a slightly distracted friend even as he leads them both to the living room.]

So...what's going on? [May as well jump right in even as he flops down on the couch, waiting for Roxas to do the same.]

It's not that bulky. [It's pretty bulky still but whatever.] It's a lot better than his first set I made. At least this armor fits him way better. It's not really heavy or anything though.

[There's a short smile.] Don't worry. Baymax is...pretty special. I wouldn't do anything to him that would damage him.

I will always take cookies and cake off of your hands, Athena. [There's a grin.] I might even consider sharing them. You sure you don't mind?

You mean when Bill tried taking over the world? Somehow I figured that.

[He learned enough about the apocalypse. He can't be too surprised to hear that Dipper would go to lengths to save Mabel.] ...but you're right. Trust me, I get it. I'd go through a ton of horrible stuff to protect my brother, too. And I'm gonna tell you the same thing I told Dipper the first time you disappeared. You guys will know the right thing to do when the time comes because you'll probably think about what he would do if he were here and what he'd say. You know what I mean?

Whoa, hold up! How in the world do you know about Bill? Dipper told you about this before, hasn't he?

[Which wasn't all that shocking. After Dipper came back, of course he would tell his best friend all the stuff that happened!]

...But yeah, I do. But it's kind of funny. I've already started using my awesome detective powers about this place but I don't know. I'm not really quite as smart as you or Dipper. It makes me wonder if I could do anything amazing like you two did or something.

[roxas will follow suit, though he's definitely not as relaxed as hiro is. he's not even really sure how to respond to the question, so he's silent for a bit.

but when he asks, it'll be pretty blunt. his tone betrays the question though, since he sounds a bit tentative; the words themselves can't really be mistaken though.]

How did you know... when you liked Ruby? Like... [a crush.]

[...oh. It's going to be one of those talks huh? He blinks for a moment as he tries to decide if those words really did come out of Roxas's mouth and he nods to himself again. Right. Okay. Where is this going?]

Like enough that I wanted to date her? [Just gonna fill in the blanks here. It's a good question though and it's enough for him to pause in thought.] ...it's kinda weird, I guess. I mean I met Ruby the same day I met you and I met Mary. You three are the oldest friends I have here. [And that's important to him. It's actually very important and sort of astonishing that they've all been friends for almost six months in this dumb place. It's also the only reason he's bothering to be truthful with his response.]

For a long time I don't think I realized it. Ruby and I have always been good friends ever since I met her. I mean you've seen her. There's something about her that makes it really easy to relax and just talk to. Ruby and I have a lot of stuff in common so it was just...really cool to have a friend like that. You remember that flood? Natalia teamed us up to help people out and after that we sort of just fell into a pattern of helping each other out. We're both the leaders of our teams back home. And even though I know she can hold her own, I still worry about her and want to make sure she comes back from missions safe...I don't really know what I'd do if something did happen to her.

That was probably my first tip-off. I couldn't really imagine my life without her and she's the one person who makes everything better just by existing and she gets it without me having to explain a lot of things and she lets me just...be myself. No expectations, nothing. [Mochi by then has jumped up on the couch, claws digging into Hiro's thigh and causing him to wince as he tries to push him off.] It's hard not to be happy when she's around and it's even harder to watch her be sad about anything. [And then there's an almost shy grin.] ...I want to make the world a better place for her. She's one of my biggest motivations. So...I guess that's how I knew. She's like my best friend, but it's different than having a best friend. My best friends don't make me trip over my own words or think about them all the time or distract me so much that I light my kitchen on fire.

Yeah. He told me when he came back the first time and about what Bill was trying to do before you uncle stepped in. Guy kinda sounds like a huge jerk. ...Bill. Not your uncle. Hey. Look, you don't have to be smart to do anything amazing in this place, you know? I've met a lot of people who aren't as smart as me that've made a huge difference. What counts is that you're trying and that you're helping your friends. Do you WANT to do something like what Dipper and I have been working on?

It's reassuring to know you treat him so well.

Machines should be cared for just like humans don't you think so?

[ The amount of time and dedication they put into maintaining Baymax is a little inspiring. ]

Nah, don't worry! I totally knew what you were talking about! Seriously though, let's just hope that Bill never ever ever ever shows up here. Ugh, I don't even want to think about it!

...But I may or may not have been thinking something along those lines. If I'm going to disappear, I might as well figure out this stuff out right? And If I do and just totally forget everything, I just want to know I kind of did stuff here.

And you know. Probably show off to my brother that I could totally do this.

[She does notice the chaotic state the apartment was in, making a mental note to help clean up when Hiro is all settled down in bed and taken care of. Honey took it upon herself to gently remove Hiro's bloodied hoodie and shoes so that the boy would be more comfortable. After putting his shoes away, Honey Lemon notices a silver cylinder poking out from the hoodie pocket, her brows furrowing. As much as she wanted to ask Hiro what was this thing he had on his person, she knew it wasn't the right time. The poor thing was sick and exhausted from whatever "excursion" he was on. She did, however, folded the hoodie in such a way that the cylinder can be seen and she quietly hands the jacket to Tadashi while she looks over his younger brother, kneeling down on his bedside.]

Baymax said his body temperature was low. So, maybe some soup would be okay? I can make miso or something else if you want.

[roxas is quiet.

he's really quiet, but it's obvious that he's hanging on to every last word of hiro's. in his head, he's doing the mental checks against his own situation with mary.

—naturally, he's hitting each one well. knowing her since day one, check. worrying about her safety, check. not wanting to live his life without her in his, check. lets him be himself without question, check. happy when she's around, check. sad when she's sad, check. like a best friend, check.

...he'll come back to that kitchen on fire thing in a second, but first? well, first comes the part where he mutters out loud to himself.]

So that's... really it, then.

Because even with everything we've done and everything we've been forced to do, we're no closer to getting answers than they are. [It's a pessimistic outlook, but he's a little discouraged by everything lately.] But other than that I've got nothing.

M'fine...[He's so fine, in fact, he's pretty much faceplanting into his pillow the moment Tadashi sets him on the bed. He'd skipped lunch but after everything he saw it's probably not a good idea to eat yet. Baymax is in the living room puttering around, trying to help clean up so that there's less of a chance of anybody tripping. Safety first!

He's kind of embarrassed he feels this bad. But he can at least mumble.] ...water's okay. Soup later.

[...he lifts an eyebrow. He heard that, you know.]

Yeah. I guess. Why're you asking anyway?

Everyone here is rather extraordinary, is more what I was getting at. [Don't get discouraged. Just get more motivated.]

[ he turns to honey, a worried expression on his face. ]

Miso soup actually sounds good, [ even for him!! and really, he'd prepare it by himself but he doesn't want to leave hiro's side for too long in case something else happens. ] Could you? There should still be some stuff in the fridge for it.

Don't worry about it. [ she moves to the kitchen now to prepare hiro's take home food. and from there, she yells out: ] They give me a lot of free stuff at the cafe, anyway!

[well, he... kind of expected hiro to ask or figure it out anyway, in all honesty. hiro's too smart for this.]

Mary said... that's what having a crush was like. [yeah, that's definitely not all of the explanation. it's true, but that's definitely not all of it. spitting that part out isn't easy, though.]

I didn't really know, since before... I thought I couldn't know what that felt like.

[Nods.] Of course.

[She is mirroring the look of worry he has on his face, reaching out to give Tadashi a gentle pat on the shoulder in reassurance. They only had sandwiches, after all. Not exactly filling.]

If you don't mind me borrowing an apron?

But since you have a heart now, you can. [Yeah, he's starting to see where this is going.] Does it all make a lot more sense now?

[He's trying not to outright ask if he has a crush on someone, but it's close enough.]

Do we even have an apron...? [At this rate the words are coming much slower and he's pretty much on the brink of just shutting down completely for a little while even before he has water or soup. But he burrows a little further into his covers anyway. No more robots. No more kidnappings. No more watching dudes explode or visions of destroyed planets or suffocation. Just resting time.]

[He's busy packing up and making sure he's only leaving with everything he came with.] Trust me, that's what I miss most about home. But it's good to know I've got connections like that.

[He stares at her for a second...and then sighs. But at least there's a tiny grin.]

Of course I do. [...now.] If they have personalities why wouldn't we treat them like humans? It kinda feels wrong any other way.
