I tried to pass my driver's test for an ID. It is harder than I thought. I do not need a physical ID— for I wear the identification of many things. A hero, a veteran, a revolutionist, a leader, a janitor—
[ He trails off, thankfully, then moves onto the next question. ] Well. I needed to see if you have potential. You're very intelligent. What do you think of CERES so far?
It's not that hard. I think. [Says the fourteen year old who doesn't know anything about driving...but Tadashi has a moped. How hard can it be? He almost wants to say something to that, but Katsura changes the subject. Baymax continues to use tape to make sure that flyer isn't moving from the wall anytime soon.]
I don't trust them if that's what you're asking me. They know a lot more than they're telling us and I wanna know why. There's...something a lot bigger here. I just don't know what it is yet.
[ Everything behind Katsura's logic was just spoken in Hiro's sentence. His brows actually lift-- his heart swells. He's having a moment here. It looks like he blanks out for an entire moment, staring almost lifelessly into the ground as he thinks. It looks like he is thinking hard. Something Hiro says triggers something in his mind. For those who know Katsura, they're aware he has a very big imagination, and a love for tragic stories. Sometimes.. he thinks up these stories by the smallest thing in every day conversation.
A child, wandering through the storm— that's you, Hiro. He has within his arms salvation: bread, and Pocari Sweat. The storm grows, the night becomes colder. There are frozen bodies, all around. He has to leap over them as he runs with all of his might-- run towards any surface of life. He cries out in despair, but determination. A soft voice-- it's heard. Through the vast snow, the child-- who is growing up-- pushes through the snow. He finds a man, on his death bed in the blizzard, and others who are sick. He knees down, speaking words of encouragement to the man before feeding him.
"We will get through this storm. Metaphorically and literally. Be strong, for I have a solution."
The man smiles softly as he eats-- he cannot remember the last time he has eaten as he gazes up at the boy. His long hair appears ashen and his ribs are beginning to show. In this war, there are hardly those willing to get food and feed others. There are hardly any who fight so hard with such determination. "I will... live.. to see the season finale.. of the Old and the Sexless."
With that, Katsura's vivid imagination breaks, though there are tears in his eyes as he puts his gaze on Hiro again after a good 5 minutes. ]
Hiro-dono. You have potential to save us with that kind of logic. [ His kind of logic: "they don't tell us shit, so why trust them?" He's proud of you. if Hiro wasn't convinced this man had some loose screws just yet, maybe this'll do it. ]
Edited (going with a different drink i am fussy about my tragic story tags) 2015-08-25 01:40 (UTC)
[Unfortunately for Hiro, he doesn't know Katsura that well yet and he sort of thinks that he, perhaps, just broke the man.]
Uh...Katsura? [Nope. Nothing. Hiro waves a hand in front of Katsura's eyes, peers up into his face, anything to try and get a reaction but there's nothing. He's about to ask Baymax to check on him when Katsura looks up again and speaks, leaving Hiro to blink slowly.]
...doesn't everybody have that kind of logic around here?
Ah. That isn't entirely the case. There are some people who are still blind, and believe that CERES is telling the truth. You don't believe your home is destroyed, do you?
Of course not, otherwise I wouldn't have still been alive when Tadashi was brought here. It doesn't add up. And anyway, my friends wouldn't let the world get destroyed that easily.
[ HIRO TELLING IT LIKE IT IS. Oh my god, he has never talked to somebody here with so much sense. Sure, some people have said similar things when he would ask them about CERES, but man, Hiro is hitting everything right on the head.
He agrees. He feels his friends wouldn't let the world get destroyed so easily, either. Even with aliens being a problem back in his world-- the story that CERES tells them just doesn't make sense. Even Katsura can see that.
His hands grip Hiro's shoulders, passionately: ]
Hiro-dono! With that spirit, you will make an excellent rebel!
Take my hand, let us unveil this curtain of lies that has been shielded over this colony— LET US OVERTHROW THE CORPORATION!
[There's a slight yelp when Katsura grips his shoulders, but only because he's not expecting it. He looks from his hands to Katsura's face, about to get into the spirit of things and say yeah, hell yeah, let's go overthrow the corporation but...]
Nobody has any clues where they went? How long have they really been gone?
[ a long, drawn out pause. ] Something I think you are prepared to know. CERES uses their virtual games to train us for these aliens that supposedly destroyed our worlds, as you know. This is a load of bull****. I was a fool when I first arrived and put myself through many obstacles in their ViVid world. I discovered through all of the trials and errors of their complicated and dangerous games. I was able to learn something everyday.
But then.. I came across a game that left me puzzled. It was too easy. There was no challenge. Floppy Bird was a very addicting game, but that is when I realized that the information I had been fed were absolute lies. This game.. opened my eyes as I conquered my task and defeated the game without learning anything.
CERES is merely wasting our time. They are distracting us. Why? Why are we really here? Why are our comrades here getting injured? I—...
[ He trails off for a second, but he's back in no time. ]
I was put through a task. It wasn't easy. I lost, as you know, and faced consequences. [ Katsura idly rolls his fingers over a lock of his long hair. ] My consequences didn't strengthen me to fight any sort of Flamines that they speak of. My consequences only gave me nightmares.. to this day, they still give me nightmares. I've told you this before to never lose, and I mean it. [ His hand drops by his side. ]
They know everything about us. Our goals. Our achievements. Our wants. Our desires. Our weaknesses. They are listening and watching us all of the time. Our bodies are tampered with before we arrive here.
..Did you know that?

two days later and I'm still laughing at this tag jfc. only because of floppybird. :(
[You know. He had him up until he starts talking about Floppy Bird and Hiro's face falls flat. He's about to tell Katsura to quit messing around and actually take this seriously, but...then again? The rest of it makes sense. And the things he's talking about...they match up to what Katsura wouldn't tell him inside ViViD.
It makes a scary amount of sense.]
...I...[No. He had a feeling, but.] ....not to that extent, no. [That's even worse.] Why though? What are we supposed to do for them that they can't get the aliens or other Flamines or whatever to do? We have lives back home, how is that fair?
[He stops to look at his hands.] We're code. That's why we're code. We're code so they can change whatever they want about us. Katsura...are we living weapons?

AHfDJD he tells everybody about floppy bird...... hes so offended by that game
[ Hearing this revelation from a young teenager almost sends chills down his spine, but he's glad that Hiro understands without him having to explain. ]
We are property to them to do their dirty work. I believe our homes are not destroyed— but we are used as an offensive for CERES. These Flamine people; CERES has wronged them and they are not telling us how or why. A slide show to get us to trust and agree with them is their way of branding us as theirs.
I've been mistaken as a CERES official from a victim of CERES I met when .. I took a tour of the place. There are ocular implants connected to your nervous system. CERES used this to their advantage and knocked us unconscious.
They have complete control over us. You're foolish if you think otherwise.
[Ocular implants...they messed with their eyes? They messed with their eyes. He blinks rapidly like he's trying to figure out what they've done and the look on his face is equal parts horrified and aggravated. How. Dare. They.]
I'm not here to be their attack dog. I have things to be doing at home, like protecting my city. [There's a beat.] ...y'think that means we should be trying to help the Flamine instead? If nobody trusts CERES it's gotta be for a really, really good reason. [He shakes his head.] There's always a way to override. We've just gotta figure out what it is.
[ Zura casts Hiro a glance, then pounds a fist to his own chest. He is practically glistening when he says this: ]
I have with me a secret weapon. Somebody who appears as a white demon when he is drenched in blood. Sakata Gintoki is his name-- I have been friends with him since childhood. He can take anything this place throws at us down. However...
[ he lowers his hand and clears his throat. ]
It's hard to get him out of bed. I need to encourage him further for assistance since he prefers sleeping and eating sweets.
I am also working up a scheme to get my darling Elizabeth who will make a great asset. She has broken me out of jail before. [ implying that he is ready to cause some big trouble. ]
[He's really gotta stop anticipating really serious moments with Katsura.] He kinda sounds like my cat. [He nods, gesturing to where the feline's curled up on the couch.] Mochi can be vicious but only when you bribe him enough.
[And only when Hiro's trying to do things he shouldn't, like give the cat a bath or strap rocket boots to him without proper appeasement.]
...and who's Elizabeth? [If he's bothered about Katsura being in jail before, well, he doesn't show it. It's okay, bro, he's been arrested too.]
T..That's exactly how he is! [ He looks in the direction of Mochi, face flushing a bright red again. ]
Aaaaa, he is so fat, just like Gintoki. [ does Katsura like praising or insulting this guy: The Motion Picture Film. Zura ventures a little closer to the cat that he didn't notice, but then Hiro distracts him with a Very Important Question. ]
Elizabeth is Elizabeth! [ WHAM. He's pulling out his wallet, passion in his voice and his eyes. Just like a proud soccer mom, he reveals a drop down plastic folder from his wallet that show him and Elizabeth... inallsortsof funsituations.
It's obviously somebody in a giant sheet, but Katsura doesn't even bring up this point— probably because he was too stupid to realize it. His voice wavers. ]
She's been with me through thick and thin— through every season, every time I got put on stand by, every time our show got cancelled— she is my right hand! B..But now, here in Tellus, we're separated. Her code is not here.
[It's official. Tadashi's going to kill him for ever letting Katsura into the house. Oh well. He's about to point out that his fat cat isn't that fat when he's suddenly being accosted by photos of...
....what.
What?]
Um. [Well. That's one way to describe it, he guesses. Elizabeth is Elizabeth and it looks like Elizabeth might not even be a she at all, but how do you say that to somebody who's apparently missing a few screws?] You guys have been together for a long time, huh? [Let's go that route.] How do you know her code won't show up? Baymax was waiting for me when I got here.
[ The more that Katsura looks at these pictures, the more he starts missing him. He was used to having somebody to cuddle up with at night after a long night of planning debauchery and overthrowing the government— or a long night of playing copious rounds of UNO. Sure, he has Sakamoto and Gintoki here, but Elizabeth, well. Elizabeth has spent more time with Katsura and been loyal to him.
Before Sakamoto moved in with him, Zura would be out and about, talking to himself, almost as if Eli was there with him. ... Which sort of made him look crazy ( where is the lie, though. )
He's crying? He's definitely crying. ]
N..Near, far, where-eveeeeer you are, I believe that the heart does go on, Elizaaaabethzuuuu—
O..oh. Elizabeth— she was a gift from space. I got her in season 1, and she's been with me ever since. There is hardly a moment of screen time I have without her. I've questioned Mosley-san about this. Apparently he is encouraging me to play in ViVid to obtain her as a reward. As much as I'd rather not participate, I'm afraid I have no choice if I want Elizabeth back.
[Oh god please don't cry Zura, Hiro has no idea how to handle that. He holds his hands up like he's about to brace Katsura from completely falling apart but when he speaks again Hiro settles for a questioning look. Why so much fourthwalling bro?
What does he know about Katsura anyway? Not much, that's what.]
Would you have to be the one to play the game, or do you think somebody else could play for you to obtain her as a reward?
Hmm. I don't know. That might be a question to raise to the higher-ups. 'Can I obtain an adorable sidekick from Katsura-san's world?' Hooooo. It makes me so angry, Hiro-dono. I suspect they are keeping "codes" hostage and revive their corruption when they please.
There is too much of their control in this place. It's uncomfortable, isn't it? There isn't enough detail given to us. It's all suspicious.
It's worth asking. Maybe we can obtain a bunch of other cool stuff, too, if it doesn't exactly have to be ours. Might help us fight back on what CERES wants from us.
[And he knows, buddy. He knows.] That doesn't sound too far off from what I've been wondering, too. It's all about big brother watching. [A pause.] A figurative one, not...my actual big brother. [Big difference.] What would be best is if we can disable the ocular implants somehow so they can't see what we're actually planning to do. Any ideas on that one?
You have a big brother..? [ He's always wanted siblings. Only child, and an orphan. No wonder he craves companionship. ]
[ Zura is gradually, during this conversation, sliding closer to Mochi. ] Tampering with them on our person is too dangerous. Finding the source of how the are watching us at their headquarters and dismantling the equipment they use, if possible, would be the better option than performing operation on somebody. It would be trickier— as we speak, they could be hearing and seeing this conversation.
Or.. obtain a corpse and slice their body to see what is inside. Aa, like a happy meal with a toy. [ look, this guy has cut open plenty of comrades in his war. He talks about this casually, taking another long, slide step to Mochi. ]
Yeah. This is actually his apartment. [Hence the hipster interior. Mochi's tail flicks but he otherwise doesn't move, aware of Katsura's movements but not too startled to run away just yet.]
So really what you're saying is it's probably easier to break into their secret tower or whatever and take out all of the cameras. [A beat.] You don't really think they can be listening to every single conversation every single one of us is having right now, do you?
[There's a wince though.] We are not slicing anybody open! And don't talk about slicing people open while you're trying to touch my cat!
I was told by a victim this: They are always watching, always listening. Take that as you will.
Everybody was stunned with a shock at once when we were getting too close to finding out more information. We tried to congregate in person in case they were listening over our devices before we found out how they are are truly listening to us. It's no use. At this rate, they already know that I am a threat to them, but it is a risk I am willing to take if it means sharing information with others and educating them of the dangers of this place and the corporation.
[ Suddenly, Katsura plops down on the couch then leans to lie his upper body down on the sofa, head resting on top of Mochi as his arms curl around him. ]
Aaahh, so cute... so soft... [ back to business. He remains here with his Mochi pillow, all the while sharing valuable and probably confidential information: ]
There will be no intentional slicing of bodies open if they are alive... unless somebody sacrifices themselves and volunteers. Finding a corpse to open it also unlikely, as victims who have died disappear altogether. Otherwise, the safest option is to investigate their place.
They also have a prisoner there that I saw that I wish to set free. Should you ever investigate, she is in a cage, and it is dangerous if you go near her.
