Nursing, believe it or not. Baymax was designed to be a robotic nurse. [That's probably hard to believe considering the pair initially met Trowa after punching some machines in the face…] He's running on a couple of chips that make up his entire personality and skill set. Definitely different than whatever those things were that were chasing you in the game. [That is to say please explain that. No really.]

Nursing? [ Whoa. They have some things automated where he's from, but they're not quite to the point of having robot nurses. Everyone was too concerned with fighting. ] So, the way he's programmed is similar, just on a small scale.

[ Gundams have chips.... like 4 billion of them. ]

The mobile suits. They don't usually look like that. Leo models were never adapted to have powerful beam cannons.

[ THIS PROBABLY DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. ]

Similar to what, other robots? [Trowa you have a lot of things to explain suddenly but at least he's (sort of) patient.] I mean if you're really curious I can show you what's actually in his access port.

[A pause.] But only if you explain what a Leo model is. Mobile suit's pretty self-explanatory. [Plus let's be honest the Hamadas are nerds and have watched enough anime for a lifetime. If he didn't know some things he'd be an embarrassment to his kind.]

Similar to what we fought in the game.

[ Well okay, Baymax is way more advanced, so probably closer to a Gundam. But he's hesitant to spill about that just yet. ] I'm curious, purely because he's much smaller scale.

As for the Leo...it's just a name for the model itself. Like a car, I guess. There's a transformable airborne one called an Aries as well, both of them were suits designed by military factions where I'm from. I can draw out the model schemes for both if you'd like to see the difference.

[ They won't be exciting drawings since hey he was an engineer but still. ]

Yeah. Yeah, absolutely, that'd be awesome. There aren't a lot of people here who know how to build machines or robots so...it'd be really cool to see the difference in design. [He thinks on that for a moment.] Baymax couldn't be too big if he was designed to be a nurse, but he's still pretty big. I've built smaller robots myself but not as advanced as he is.

...does the military use a lot of tech like that where you're from or what?

Fully noted, somewhere in his head. He'll deliver them pretty promptly once he sits down and does them. ]

That makes sense. Anything bigger would be rather intimidating, which defeats the purpose of having nursing programming. [ He wouldn't want something huge looming over him in a doctor's office, regardless of how cute it looked. ] Who built him? Or did you help?

[ So many questions, SO LITTLE TIME. ]

Yeah, all the time. Most of the technology deals with transport from Earth to space or something weapons-based. Space colony tech was developed a little over a hundred years ago, though they're always looking for ways to make it closer to organic planetary functions.

He was built by some giant nerd for a school project? The guy worked on Baymax for a long time, wrote the original programming himself and built the original body, too, and ran a bunch of tests to make sure he'd work. [He drops the act soon enough and there's a light huff of laughter.] He's also my older brother. Baymax was probably his best invention. But I wrote his other chips and built his armor myself. [And rebuilt the body but only a few people know this. Tadashi's not one of them.]

...wait. Space? [Space???? That shouldn't be so unusual for him all things considered but it's still pretty mindblowing.] What're you doing in space?

[ Trowa is listening intently– this story seems kind of... ah, yeah, there's the twist. When Hiro reveals it's his older brother who invented Baymax, he laughs quietly as well. A good lead up. ]

My compliments to his engineering, then. I've only seen a fraction and Baymax is impressive as is. [ Bonding over robots!!!! ] And to you, of course. The armor design is trim but functional.

[ Of course he'd appreciate defensive and offensive additions. ]

There are space colonies. People live out there and have been for a while now. I grew up on one and only set foot on Earth recently.

Baymax is pretty amazing. [There's no doubt there.] Tadashi put a lot of work into making sure he'd be able to help a lot of people, but he never considered him to be something more than a robotic nurse. [He can probably hear the grin in Hiro's tone.] I only had a couple of days to really perfect it and maybe I'll make some upgrades some day, but it did what we needed it to do. Baymax's exterior's made of vinyl so protecting him at all costs was important.

...and flying just seemed really cool. [It's true. Sometimes he has childish desires.]

So you're probably from even further in the future than I am. [He might just be impressed about that.] What're the space colonies really like? Why did you come down to earth?

He had no grand ideas to make him into a battle nurse? [ A joke??? ] You only had a few days? What spurred that on?

[ Now he's curious. ] Flying is not a bad asset to have on your side.

I suppose so. [ At the questions, he's silent for a moment, thinking them over. How much does he want to say here? ] They're modeled after Earth in a lot of ways. Except they're circular. A ring formation, to assist with the gravitational axis. If you're not used to seeing buildings sticking out from the side and over your head it can be disorienting.

[ He'd grown up in that environment, so he'd been more weirded out by how much space the Earth had. ] I came to Earth out of curiosity. I'd never been before.

[ A LIE. ]

You'd be surprised, but think about it. What's better than a bot who can fight and heal simultaneously? [It's okay, he might be a little sarcastic, too. The question causes him to pause though because…that's a whole other story.] But I figured if we were going to be superheroes, we needed to look the part. I didn't want to waste time designing and re-designing so I worked a lot to perfect everything for battle.

[That's making it sound a little cooler than it really is, but what Trowa doesn't know won't hurt him. He's more interested in space suddenly because…honestly, Hiro's just as big of a nerd as his older brother. The Hamadas have a telescope in their room back home and Hiro in particular has been fascinated with space since he was a kid. Tellus has been an experience, and learning about other timelines and planets has been more than exciting for him despite the circumstances.] I think that'd end up being confusing after a while. How're people supposed to get inside buildings that're over your head? [Hm.] The colony itself is sort of shaped in a ring, too, but not exactly like that. I have a map from a friend of the whole planet that he ended up drawing. Are you in a contained bubble like Cerealia is or is the air actually breathable?

[He slows down finally, regarding his CereVice carefully before he seems to take that for what it is.] Of all the places you could have come to, you chose Earth. I guess it's not a bad choice. I mean I live there, but it's just kind of an interesting choice when there're so many other planets out there.

Can he really do both, simultaneous? [ A valid question..... ] You're superheroes? Like the kind from films?

[ He's heard of the concept before, especially in regards to the early parts of the war. Everyone had been waiting, waiting, for someone to rise up and stop everything once and for all. Instead, they'd gotten great warriors. Amazing soldiers, like one Zechs Merquise. Like Treize Khushrenada.

(Like the Gundam pilots. Trowa doesn't think he's a hero though, not with all the blood on his hands.) ]

You adjust. And you just walk there. There are roads and sidewalks, just like anywhere else. It's not a bubble, not strictly. I can't tell how it compares to here, since I don't know the dimensions. All the colonies have breathable air, so you don't have to walk around in a space suit. It's recommended to wear one, though, if you're going to be close to the exit hatches.

[ BECAUSE SPACE. ]

All that's on the Moon is a Lunar Base. Military only, nothing exciting. There's been wind for a terraformation project set for Mars, but I don't know if that'll ever get off the ground. Venus is too hot. Mostly, though, everyone's too busy fighting each other to make real progress.

[ Oops got a little too real. ] Earth surprised me. We have technology to imitate seasons in space, but nothing like what Earth has. And the weather is different everywhere. It could be raining in Hong Kong but be bright and sunny in Brisbane.

I'm still making some upgrades to really allow him to do both since his armor sorta hinders some of his skills…but yeah, definitely. He's still capable of scanning everybody and collecting data and diagnosis. With some adjustments he'll be even better. [This…is the first time someone's specifically mentioned fictional media as a comparison for being a super hero. It doesn't bother him, but it's kinda cool. It's what he used to associate heroes with, too.] Less freaky powers and there's not a specific school for us to train in or anything, but yeah. Mostly like the kind from films.

[Then again, hearing about space is like hearing about life right out of a sci-fi movie. He's hanging onto Trowa's every word, even going as far as to set down whatever project he was tooling with to give him his undivided attention. The idea of just…dealing seems so simple.]

It's basically a biosphere. And I assume you can change and grow everything inside of it so that you're continually expanding. This place is kinda like that, too, I think. After the flood from a little while ago we had to restructure a lot of stuff. Anyway, I never thought there was anything actually on the moon. [This is actually very fascinating, considering he received a whole history about the Sailor Senshi.] …guess that makes sense though if there's a war. [Isn't that what the military's for? And Trowa did just let it slip that they're fighting, not to mention he's seen his gundam at its full size. You don't make something like that if it isn't going to be used.

…well that's a lie. He might build something like that just for fun, but no one ever said Hiro wasn't a little crazy sometimes.]

Doesn't sound that different from here. Usually the colony's climate controlled, too. [He ponders for a moment.] I've never really thought about how weird it is that the weather can be so vastly different. San Fransokyo's pretty consistent and I haven't really traveled a lot of other places.

[ Specific school? He's not sure about that, but okay, no weird powers. Just man-made; something normal people wouldn't think to do. ] That's pretty incredible. Both of those things. Were his fighting skills implemented through a secondary chipset?

Though, just as pertinent: ]

Do you know how to fight as well? [ He figures yes, but still. ]

Things are rearranged with some frequency. Mostly for upgrades and changes in the building structures or during routine certificate sweeps. The nice thing about colonies being smaller than Earth is that it's easier for upkeep. Then again, Earth mostly suffers from having a lot of battles. Their buildings are redone all the time because of the damages.

[ Oops. ]

Having the base on the Moon put it closest to all the natural resource satellites. It's also a good mid-point to launch off of. [ Strategic. It makes him nervous, because he's not sure when they'll start putting production into overdrive. The Gundams are already pushing OZ to the ledge– have, with Heero being out of the picture for the most part. If they end up with another mission though, once their hands are untied, the retaliation could come in the form of a full army chasing their tails. ]

I've noticed the weather patterns here. [ Controlled, as usual. ] Someone mentioned there being something outside of this place, though. I imagine the jungle has changeable weather.

You should try traveling when you get back. [ Not if, when. ] Earth has a lot of bad points but it's like nothing else.

Yeah, I--hold on. [And then, clearly to someone in the background:] Hey, buddy. Come here for a sec. [There's the squeaking of vinyl and the sound of something mechanically sliding open before Hiro switches the whole thing to video. Surprise, Trowa, meet the scrawny nerd who's in his normal street clothes and the robot who looks like a walking marshmallow. Hiro holds up Baymax's red fight chip in his hand to show his new friend, a small smile playing on his lips. Yes, he's still proud of himself.]

I ended up writing this one for him after I realized we needed to fight back back home. Baymax was worried about it at first since he was never programmed for battle but he got the hang of it pretty fast. And yeah. My brother and I used to study martial arts together when I was younger, and I have someone here who's training me.

Do you guys do the rearranging yourself though or does it just kinda happen? It makes a lot more sense when you put it that way so that things aren't constantly overlapping. [He frowns slightly. He's not wrong. Earth has seen its fair share of battles and though he hasn't lived through many huge ones in his time, he knows enough of the history to understand. ...however...] You know a lot about Earth for only having been there recently and never before. [What's up with that?] The moon's as good a place as any. People have been going there for years. It's just really weird to think about how much activity could be going on up there.

[He nods.] The jungle was definitely different than the colony. Some of us went up to the mountains and got caught in a snowstorm. Others were inside a volcano. It mirrored other planets that way but I can't decide if that's a good or a bad thing.

And hey...maybe I will. I've got a job to do when I get home, but maybe my aunt and I can take some time off for a vacation. The earth's way too big to ignore it.

[ Well if Hiro's going to video, then Trowa does too. Unfortunately, his surroundings aren't as interesting. He seems to have gotten a better shirt though (sorry turtleneck...you served your purpose). ]

Nice labeling system. [ There's a bit of amusement in his tone as he sees the sticker on the chip. It certainly gets the point across. ] You'll have backup, then, just in case.

[ –Baymax isn't there. Is the completion of that thought. ]

There's construction teams who handle it mostly. They partner with the engineers. [ Leaving it to just the civilians... ] I did a lot of research before I went.

[ Understatement. ] I suppose it depends on whose Moon you're talking about. Still no life to be found besides the base they've built.

[ And exploration was on hold until the fighting was done. ]

That sounds dangerous. Especially the volcano. Did everyone make it out okay? [ While he's seen a lot of death and caused it, unnecessary death is not on top of his favorite things. ]

Maybe you can go with Baymax and your brother as well.

Hey, you knew exactly what it meant didn't you? [He's pleased with his tiny skull and crossbones okay? Gosh. At least Trowa looks more normal today and he doesn't seem to mind that they swapped for video. There's a flicker of something on his face then. He gets what he means. In case Baymax isn't there. He's experienced that more than once now. He'd rather not do it again.] And I've got a back-up weapon, too. Just a back-up of my back-up.

It's kinda weird how it sounds a lot like how the earth functions but not really on earth. We have construction teams that work with architects and engineers and stuff, too, to keep building and creating. [There's a small roll of his eyes though.] Research never compares to the real thing, but it's better than nothing. There's no life on our moon but people have been going to it for years and we've been sending rovers and cameras up to look at the other planets for years, too.

[But let's talk about this planet.] As far as I know everybody got out of the volcano okay. We were all rescued from the different parts of the planet by somebody on a flying motorcycle, if you can believe that. [Seriously. He's also leaving out that some people died prior to that because...why bring it up? However, he's not fast enough to completely wipe away the quick spike of hurt at the idea of traveling with Tadashi anywhere. It's one of those little things you don't really think about after a person's gone until someone else brings it up. But like with the idea of Baymax not being around, he's quick to eliminate it and return to a more neutral look.]

Yeah, maybe. Things are pretty busy back where we're from but...maybe someday. This'll have to do for now.

[ At Hiro's words, he nods– backups on backups. Smart move. Trowa doesn't ask about the look on the other boy's face, the flicker of understanding. Pressing won't get him anywhere, Hiro's too intelligent to fall for any prying questions. ]

That's how we started too. Rovers, cameras, satellites. They made some breakthroughs in technology that led to the age we live in now. All that's pretty far in the past though; maybe your world is getting close to the things that allowed us to be where we are back home.

[ A small hope, right? ] If that's the case, you might be watching a technology boom. Or be part of it.

A flying motorcycle....? [ That sounds fake but okay. Trowa's already seen some weird shit. ]

Is something going on with you and your brother? [ Sorry Hiro, didn't wipe that expression off fast enough. He let the first one pass but this one is deeper. ]

It's possible. Science and tech keep evolving every time you blink so we can only hope. I think I'm too short to be sent up into space right now but I'm hoping that'll change some day. I'd like to see it up close instead of through a telescope in my bedroom. [A technology boom. He wants to be part of it more than he'd realized.] And I've got a couple of years left in my life. Things are bound to change.

And yes, a flying motorcycle. I can't even make this up. [Well, he could. But he won't.

The problem is that Trowa asks That Question and Hiro's stunned into silence, not sure how to recover from that gracefully. Tadashi would know how to, but Hiro's still young and unsure of how to handle it himself. So he shakes his head.] Tadashi and I are fine. Don't worry about it.

I'm sure when the opportunity presents itself, you'll take it. [ Hiro is just one of those types. ] Height is just a matter of a few years.

[ He's never been bothered being as short as he is. It makes certain things much easier. Like crawling through air vents. ]

I don't buy it. [ Calling bullshit immediately, because Hiro's face gives him away. ]

[All of that's true. He'd take the opportunity immediately if given the chance, and height…well, he hopes to be taller than he is now even if he knows he'll never be as tall as Tadashi.

Speaking of, Trowa hitting on that button really, really doesn't help and he huffs in what he's hoping passes as annoyance.]

It doesn't matter, Trowa, we're just--[Hm. How to explain…] We're at two different places in our lives that I'm not sure that's possible, okay? That's all.

[ He reads annoyance, but there's something else there. Trowa presses his mouth in a thin line, weighing his options. Pushing the subject could get him the answer. Or a straighter one, at least.

The odds of that are low, though. And Hiro doesn't seem ready to speak his mind. Ok. Secrets are secrets. He just hopes someone else knows, so the other doesn't end up dealing with it on his own. ]

It matters to you. [ A pause, and then: ] I think most of us are in different places of our lives when it shouldn't be possible. This place seems to bend the rules.

[He's been dealing with it (mostly) alone for a while. What's another lifetime of dealing compared to now? Still, he's relieved Trowa doesn't push because he's not sure he could have handled that. He echoes the sentiment not long after.]

A lot of things matter to me that don't matter on this planet. Tellus is a weird place that kind of cheats everything. I haven't found the loopholes yet but it's just one of my projects.

Does it bother you? That it's bending rules I mean.

We all hold onto things even when it doesn't seem like we should. Logic has never been humanity's strong suit, regardless.

[ Why would they have so many wars, if so? ]

It's unsettling. I'm still finding my footing. I don't like being out of the loop.

Speak for yourself. Logic's always my strong suit. [Or at least until he runs headlong into fights with men in kabuki masks.]
