Sorry! Ruby and I were trying to make pancakes but I kinda set the box down on the counter, but it wasn't really the counter it was the burner and she had her face in the cat and when I looked back at the stove the box had caught on fire and we couldn't find the fire extinguisher and so I panicked and Ruby panicked and used your pillow to try and smother the flames but obviously pillows aren't flame-resistant and by the time we put the fire out it was pretty wrecked.

[A beat.] But at least it sorta matches the rest?

[ he pulls the pillow out of the plastic bag and HITS YOU WITH IT, HIRO. ]

Be [ thwack! ] more [ and another! ] careful [ you're lucky he doesn't play baseball professionally! ] next [ and that your head has so much floof. ] time, [ and that he isn't punching you! ] knucklehead! [ geez! ]

[!!!! Flailing hands and kicking limbs and trying not to fall off of the bed in his attempts to get away from the pillow.]

I'm sorry, jeeze! [He's still pushing it away. It's not like it hurts but gosh.] There isn't going to be a next time because she already knows now that I have no idea how to really cook. Also your cleaning robot did a nice job with the baking soda that was all over the place.

tadashi just sighs and shakes his head, tucking the pillow in between his arm and his side. ]

You're lucky the fire didn't escalate.

[And now he actually feels really guilty. He stops moving, staring down at his feet instead since he can't really look Tadashi in the eye at the moment. The important part was that he stopped it and honestly, today had been a very good day. And now it's starting to tank because he suddenly realizes he could have caused a lot of damage, he put Ruby in danger, and normally he's a lot more careful now around things that are flammable. You know. Considering.]

I know. [It's mumbled but more sincere than some of his other apologies.] It's fixed, I just needed to tell you before you saw everything yourself.

[ he just huffs, not wanting to say anything more. looks like hiro got the message, even if it had to hurt a little bit. but mostly, he's absolutely relieved that nothing bad happened to him, or to ruby. maybe this calls for another invention. something that won't let hiro in the kitchen, ha ha. or something that can extinguish fires quickly. he doubts hiro can carry a fire extinguisher, anyway. ]

I'm glad nobody got hurt.

[ there. he said it. and hopefully, it makes hiro cheer up a bit. it's not like tadashi meant to get mad or anything. it's just part of him being a worrywart. ]

Did you buy pancakes? [ to replace the ones hiro burnt, he means. ]

[They could always just get a baby gate to block off the entrance to the kitchen...but in all seriousness he sure did get the message and he's still pouting a little even though he knows Tadashi's right.]

Yeah. Me too. [He looks up slightly, trying for a small grin. Please don't be mad Tadadshi. But there's that question and…he can't help the slightly awkward laugh that follows.] We didn't actually get that far? Stuff kinda happened after that.
