[To be fair Naoki fights with demons so maybe this makes even more sense. But he won't say that.] I doubt sparring counts. You're...thinking of a certain monster in particular? I know you've fought a lot.

The two that come to mind first are an ogre and a dragon back home... I suppose that could be why it's covered in blood rather than just bearing fingerprints like the others. They were both rather large, if the amount of blood is determined by physical scale.

But if they're just monsters why would that make a difference? What makes those two so special?

They weren't like the ones we encountered at the carnival. Both of them had the capacity to think, feel emotions and speak.

The ogre was several seconds from bludgeoning me to death with a club, and the dragon was attempting to take me back to the lair she'd had me trapped in for weeks after making it explicitly clear that she was going to kill me after she tired of me.

It's just like...think about it, Adelina. "I'm a princess knight and suddenly an ogre just shows up and then a dragon also decided I was a hot commodity." Like...why you specifically? [Maybe that has something to do with the masks, too. Or maybe Hiro's just a nosy little shit. Probably the latter.]

I fear you don't understand. These things happened very frequently to many people. The monsters are a constant threat to everyone, and innumerable lives have been disrupted or lost. Assuming it was something that happened to me specifically is incorrect.

I guess it just sounds weird since you're the only one from your world here and I haven't really heard of stuff like this. Does that mean that a lot of the monsters are also capable of speech and emotions?

Ogres can speak, though typically it's in their own language. Dragons and spectres can speak the human languages, but gryphons are like sheep or cattle in that they can't speak, and they act only according to instinct.

Then...maybe in Cerealia it really counts as some kind of murder. That's really the only thing I can think of. Their rules don't really play by normal people's rules anyway.

Maybe they're not considering whether it was murder or self defense, and only whether or not someone has taken a life matters.

Sounds about right. I can't really imagine Rock Lee murdering somebody, can you?
