Did you know you could get a ton of really decent parts for a low price if you know how to bargain with the robots? You make it sound like you haven't met a lot of people who share their hobbies. Not really. Until recently, they were far too busy with other matters to partake in leisurely activities aside from chess.

You remember Baymax, don't you? I invented his armor and my armor, too. And armor for all of my friends so that we can keep fighting to protect our home from all kinds of stuff. I made some upgrades for Baymax, too, to teach him to fight. And I've made rocket boots for my cat, and my brother and I made a hovercar out of pieces of the washer and dryer and I made Megabot for botfights and a bunch of other stuff. I have a ton of ideas I haven't even finished yet. And I think I told you a little about one of my inventions, the microbots? Those took a ton of work but they were still really cool once they were finished. You really think that curiosity's the only driving force? And what do you mean they were too busy? There's no way people can be THAT busy…and chess is boring anyway.

Not only curiosity, but ambition, which I see that you have much of. To be so talented with human technology at such a young age...I am both humbled and impressed by how humanity has nurtured its capacity for growth. It would be a wish and an honor of mine to collaborate with you sometime.

[It's the truth. No matter how old he is, Saiduq's got quite a bit to learn about these curious beings he calls humans, and he loves that. He's also chuckling a bit to himself here at the chess comment.]

Chess can be quite the engaging game, granted that one's opponent is equally as engaging. They simply had other, more pressing matters to take care of, and little opportunity to indulge in civilian life.

[The usage of "civilian" should already give away a lot.]

I guess you could say that. Not all of humanity's like that, but the people in my world keep growing and changing every chance we get. Tadashi's the same way. And I'm always up for new projects.

[That is to say he wouldn't mind at all. He trusts Saiduq enough not to completely screw him over and a project is a project. He doesn't mind teaching or collaborating at all.]

Exactly, you get what I mean. It's an easy game but it takes way too long to play with most people because most people are too rigid. ...when you say civilian life though, what does that really mean? I mean I know what a civilian is, but I thought you were from a sort of normal world aside from the app that can give people magic.

I'm happy to hear that. Even a "normal" world has its share of problems when humanity is involved. They were soldiers tasked with keeping the peace of their country.

[It's not a lie, but it's not the full truth either. They were soldiers against the supernatural, against beings like Alcor himself, but this is something he's not too keen on elaborating at the moment, so he'll leave it at that.]

Is it really considered keeping peace if they've got the title of "soldier" attached to it? Just how bad was the state of the country?

Not as bad as what you may be thinking. Even countries in peacetime have their elite units for high-risk tasks, don't they?

[Shrugs. What he's getting at here is that (it should sound like) it was not much different from an organization of SWAT teams or the Japanese SDF or something. That's not too far off the mark either, since JP's did have considerable influence with the SDF, outright using them to be their frontliners at times.]

I guess I never really thought about it before since things are usually pretty safe back home. Well. Safe-ish. And we're in charge of protecting our city and keeping the peace but I wouldn't call that soldiering or anything. Still...kinda makes you wonder what would happen if the same sort of troops formally formed here. Think it's possible?
